The Twisted Shamrock was created to bring beautiful,
unique products from Ireland to Michigan. Owner Jim Monahan
works hard to find exciting Irish/Celtic artisans who are passionate
about their heritage. Ireland is a magical place. The history
is rich, the stories are plentiful, and the incredible products
are outstanding. Visit The Twisted Shamrock to enjoy a piece
of The Emerald Isle. It is our pleasure to share the land of
magic with you.
Jim Monahans great-grandparents on both sides of his
family emigrated from Ireland to America. Jims great-grandfather,
John Monahan, was an adventurous Irishman. He came to America
from Drogheda, County Louth, in the 1830s to find his
dream. From panning for gold in the California gold rush, traveling
through South America, building railroads through the midwest,
he did a variety of things before finally settling in Southern
Michigan in the small town of Hudson (Lenawee County). Like
so many new Irish Americans of that time, his dreams were made:
a successful farmer, land-owner, and businessman. His Irish
roots remain strong in Michigan. Jim Monahan is proud to bring
his dream, The Twisted Shamrock, to the town he was raised in:
Ferndale.
