There's good reason why Ferndale's slogan is "Good Neighbors."
Ferndale's citizenry get involved in the life of their City,
and when constructive change is needed, residents work with
elected officials and city staff to bring about change. Hundreds
of residents serve voluntarily on City commissions, committees,
and other official and unofficial city and neighborhood organizations
to help make Ferndale a better place to live.
A
Ferndale landmark, The Crows Nest served as an early
traffic signal at the intersection of Nine Mile and Woodward
Avenue. The structure was created to hold policemen high above
heavy traffic to direct traffic in a safe environment.
The Crows Nest was removed in 1928 during the widening
of Woodward Avenue and the advent of the electric traffic signal.Today,
Ferndale is honoring that history, as well as showcasing their
artistic community through the installation of an artists
metal sculpture interpretation on the Crows Nest.
